Diamond & Shape Guide

A little knowledge makes finding your favourite easier.

The four Cs

Cut describes how a diamond is proportioned and finished, which affects how it handles light. It is different from shape. Colour considers the presence of colour in a diamond. Clarity describes internal inclusions and surface blemishes. Carat measures weight, rather than size.

Natural and laboratory-grown diamonds

Natural diamonds form in the earth; laboratory-grown diamonds are created in a controlled environment. Both are diamonds. Their origin, growth features and value can differ, so check the individual product description and grading information. A diamond simulant, such as cubic zirconia, is a different material.

Before you decide

Compare the dimensions, setting and grading information for the specific stone. Photographs and illustrations can help you explore a style, but they do not establish a stone's quality or exact appearance.
